Massich, Simonson lead Muni men
HIBBING — Craig Massich and Brian Simonson both shot 34s for low-gross honors as 68 members took part in Hibbing Municipal Men’s Club action Wednesday.
Scott Dye had a 27 for low net.
Closest to the hole on the second shot on No. 2 went to Tyler Platt; closest to the pin on No. 4 was won by Gary Simonson; closest to the pin on No. 8 was won by Joe Ferris; and Frank Zubich sank the longest putt on No. 9.
Skins winners were Brian Simonson with an eagle on No. 5, and Don Mulner with a birdie on No. 6.
Blind-bogey winners were Platt, Joel Urdhal, Mike Senich, Dye, Rich Kelly, Dale Nichols, Eric Edmonds, Greg Litfin, Ferris and Steve Massich.
There’s still time to sign up for the Men’s League Tournament and banqust. The sign-up sheet is in the clubhouse.
Oddo’s 34 leads Muni senior men
HIBBING — Mike Oddo had a 34, Tony Zubich a 35 and Jim Stubblefield a 36 as 43 members took part in Hibbing Municipal Senior Men’s Club golf action Monday.
Closest to the pin on No. 4 went to Dennis Peterson; closest to the pin on No. 8 was won by Larry Jacobson; and David Antikainen, Jack Dougherty and Mike Oddo all sank the longest putt.
Skins were won by Al Caliguiri with a birdie on No. 2; Peterson with a birdie on No. 4; and Stubblefield with a birdie on No. 3.
Flag football will begin Sept. 3
HIBBING — Hibbing Youth Flag Football for grades three and four is open to both boys and girls, with the season beginning Tuesday, Sept. 3, and concluding with an end-of-the-year tournament on Saturday, Oct. 5.
Practices will be held on Mondays and Tuesdays, with games on Thursdays from 5 to 6 p.m., at the Cheever Flag Football Field.
The league will feature a sem-competitive 5-on-5 format, which will focus on passing concepts and running routes.
The cost is $40.

The registration deadline is Friday, Aug. 23.
Dort bowlers will meet Aug. 20
HIBBING — Dort’s Commercial Bowling League will hold a fall meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 20, beginning at 6 p.m., at the Hibbing Bowling Center.
It’s a five-women team. The league is looking for bowlers to either be regulars or substitutes.

Mesaba Miners will meet Aug. 29
HIBBING — The Mesaba Miners Bowling League will hold its fall meeting on Thursday, Aug. 29, beginning at 6 p.m., at the Hibbing Bowling Center.
New bowlers and teams are welcome to attend the meeting.
