ST. CLOUD — The Hibbing Community College baseball team dropped a doubleheader to St. Cloud Tech, dropping game on 9-1, then losing the nightcap 1-0 Friday.

In game one, Evan Jerome took the loss, tossing 2 1/3 innings of three-hit ball. He walked three and stuck out four. Brody Mundell hurled 2/3 of an inning, giving up four hits, walking one and striking out two.

Andrew Zamora tossed two innings. He gave up three hits, walked one and struck out one, and JD Cunningham threw one inning, giving up one hit, walking one and striking out two.

Hunter Malachek tossed seven innings for St. Cloud. He allowed six hits, walked two and struck out five.

The Cardinals got two hits form Sammy Rivera, and one each from Chanler Dilday, Jerome, Ray Santacruz and Jordan Perez. Rivera hit a double.

Jordan Mercado, Daniel Mendoza and Gabriel Romero had home runs for St. Cloud.

In game two, Joey Fracek took the loss, tossing 6 2/3 innings of two-hit ball. He walked one and fanned eight.

Gohl was the winning, giving up one hit in seven innings of work. He walked four and struck out six.

Derrick Calvillo had the Cardinals’ lone hit.

Malachek homered for the Cyclones only run.
