Both the Republican and Democratic Parties are concerned for those who are suffering with poverty and joblessness. They differ greatly in how to help.
The Republicans believe that by supporting businesses we will have a more vibrant economy; more will be employed thus less poverty. The Democratic Party believes in providing more assistance through government programs and the employed foot the bill.
These are philosophical differences that are quite significant.
There are other important differences as well.
The Republican platform is in favor of traditional marriage and strongly pro-life. The Democratic platform is in support of non-traditional relationships and strongly supports abortion.
Individual candidates can stray from their party’s platform but most do not.
We must carefully consider who we are voting for and what they represent.
