The article in the Sunday, May 28, edition of the Hibbing Daily Tribune about the Ongaro men who taught at Hibbing Community College for 60 years is a superb example of what makes Hibbing special.
We all know that taconite is our major export, and we lament the glory days of our major industry. This story about Frank and David Ongaro reflects the riches that we have in the people who live here.
When David explains the value of his education, the university recognizing his community college education and allowing him to skip courses there because of his Hibbing education that is our other valuable industry.
David and Frank Ongaro stayed in Hibbing and educated hundreds of students, who went on to reflect in their work and value of their Hibbing education.
I hope we can have more stories about our families, who go out and make a special mark that reflects their Hibbing background.
The Hibbing Tribune set that mark high by printing David’s story. Tell us more.
