As most readers would be already too aware, a high profile position with the IRRRB was recently filled lacking the full normal due process hiring practices for filling taxpayer funded government jobs. This got attention as it was deemed unfair by some who would have liked an opportunity to compete for this job and by some of our elected representatives.
Two actions quickly followed. The first was that Governor Tim Walz took immediate action to firm up government hiring practices and procedures to assure fairness and non-partisanship for all future hiring. This is the way government should work.
The second was that former State Representative Joe Radinovich resigned from this “assigned” position to avoid any further discord. This was the honorable thing to do and knowing Joe Radinovich, I'm sure he will continue working to improve the lives of Minnesotans as he always has.
Unfortunately, State Senator Justin Eichorn has chosen to memorialize this matter by insisting on inciting division, partisanship and resentment.
By now I believe we can all see that devisiveness, division and the resulting chaos are not helpful in fulfilling the government's function which is to improve the lives of people. Most of us want to see our government at work doing exactly that.
So Justin, elections are always right around the corner, and if you have any re-election aspirations, just get over it! Go to work! Don't respond! Enough already!
