Trenton ‘Trent’ C. Salminen

Trenton “Trent” C. Salminen, 13, Hibbing, passed away Sat. June 8, 2019, as the result of a motor vehicle accident.

Trent was born Oct. 14, 2005, in Hibbing, to Rina Godin and Matthew Salminen. Trent had just completed the seventh grade at the Northern Lights Community School in Warba. Trent’s hobbies were those that most boys loved. Trent was happiest with a fishing rod in his hands. Many great memories were made on the water, whether in a boat full of friends on big lakes or alone with his great-grandpa in a small boat at the family cabin.

Trent loved being outdoors, whether it was in a deer stand, riding the four-wheeler and mini-bikes, shooting his bow, tearing up the yard with RC cars with his dad and sister or with family BBQ’s and bonfires. Time spent with family was important to Trent. Trent enjoyed shopping for shoes, going to Minneapolis, eating sushi, shooting guns, going to waterparks, fairs and just having everyone together. Trent was everyone’s buddy. He especially enjoyed “hanging out” or playing basketball or football with his friends Tyler, Jordan, Kaleb and many others.

The family would like to thank all who helped Trent, the first responders, his friends and the Lifelink crew, Essentia Health-Duluth ER staff, surgical team and everyone who has supported his family and friends during this difficult time.

He is survived by his parents, Rina Edstrom and Matt (Julie) Salminen; two sisters, Lexi and Katie Salminen at home; his paternal grandparents, Mike Jr. and Kathy Salminen of Hibbing; maternal grandparents, Darrell and LaVonne Godin of Buhl; paternal great-grandfather, Mike Salminen Sr. of Bovey; paternal great-grandmother, LuElla Abress of Lindstrom, Minn.; maternal great-grandmother, Doris Bentele of Buhl; maternal aunts, Ketti (Jake) Chamberlin of Hibbing and their children Esme and Bodi, and Libby Mayer of Hibbing; his paternal uncles, Terry (Deidre) Salminen of Hibbing and their son Bradley, and Shawn (Terri) Salminen of Hibbing and their son Josh, along with numerous extended family and close friends.
