Minnie Marie (Chupurdia) Harrison Kivlin was born in Metaline Falls, Wash., on Feb. 2, 1912. The family moved to Minnesota sometime in 1917. Minnie graduated from Greenway Township, Itasca County, Minn. On May 28, 1932, she married Melvin Harrison. They lived many years at Kelly Lake. Melvin died in 1975. She married John (Jack) Kivlin on Feb. 26, 1992, and lived in Grass Valley, Calif. Jack passed away in May 2005. Minnie was a volunteer at the Hibbing Public Library and also worked there as a switchboard operator. The switchboard she used is in the Hibbing museum. She volunteered at the Historical Society and the Leisure Hills nursing home in Hibbing. She was a member of the Pink Ladies at the Sierra Nevada Memorial Miners Hospital Auxiliary in Grass Valley, Calif. She was active in her church and participated in many activities such as preparing for the annual bazaar. She loved to read, cook and bake.
Minnie lived to be 106 years, eight months and seven days old.
She is survived by her son, Dennis Harrison (Phyllis); her grandson, Shawn Harrison; granddaughter, Nicole Snowberger (Steve); and great-granddaughter Lindsey.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mike and Mary; her husbands, Melvin and Jack; her brothers: Mehilo, Mike, Sam, Nick, Eli, Roddy, Mullins and Bobby; and her sisters, Rosie and Ellen.
Funeral: Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing.
