John Sabin, 73, Victoria Palms resident in Donna, Texas, formerly from Hibbing. It is with boundless sorrow and heartbreak that we announce John’s unexpected passing.
John appreciated a hard day’s work and labored into his 70s driving heavy equipment. He was a dedicated volunteer for the Port Isabel, Texas, Chamber of Commerce for several years, and along with Sandy, received the 2010 “Volunteer of the Year” award. John knew how to tell a good joke, was an expert fisherman and huntsman. He delighted in ice cream and loved steak, was always ready to travel, welcomed adventure and occasionally tried his luck at the casinos. He seldom refused a refreshing “toddy” or a quenching beer. He was big-hearted and would do anything for you. He will be sorely missed.
John leaves behind his loving wife, Sandy; daughter, Kristie; son, Jerry Sabin; granddaughter, Rylee; and his four-legged sweetheart, Bella. He is also survived by cousins, nieces and nephews, and his “favorite” sister-in-law, Marilee (Curtis) Blake and countless “buddies.”
John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Betty Sabin; and brother, George.
Funeral: A celebration of John’s life will take place at a later date.
