Daniel Kampf, 75, of Virginia, passed away Friday, June 14, 2019 at his residence.
Daniel was born on Oct. 28, 1943 in Chicago, Ill., to Joseph and Eva Kampf. The family moved to Keewatin when Dan was 12. He graduated from Keewatin High School in 1961. He attended Hibbing Community College and excelled in theatrical productions while attending. He served in the Air Force. Daniel married the former Sue Steinkemper in 1966 and they had 3 sons. He was a heavy equipment operator for Hanna Mining. Dan moved to Duluth and earned an A.A. degree for productivity technicians from Duluth Technical Institute. He met and married his wife Nina in Duluth in 1994. They moved to the Iron Range, Hibbing, and finally Virginia in 2017.
Daniel is survived by his wife of 25 years, Nina of Virginia; three sons, Robert of Keewatin, Paul (Heather) of Los Angeles, Calif., William (Jamie) of Eau Claire, Wis.; grandchildren, Abigail, Sabrina, Aurelia and Alexander; brothers, Joseph (Ginny) of Lakewood, Wis., and Allen (JoAnne) of Crosby, Minn.; sister, Mona of Hibbing; sister-in-law, Ellie of Nashwauk; former wife, Sue Kampf of Keewatin; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Daniel was preceded in death by his mother, Eva, in 2004; father, Joseph, in 2006; and brother, Ron, in 2017.
Funeral: A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 21, at Range Funeral Home in Hibbing.
Visitation: Will be held one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral home.
