Project Care receives financial support
HIBBING — The Medica Foundation awarded Project Care Free Clinic $5,000 to support health-related programs and services that are essential to the organization’s mission in 2019.
Project Care provides primary medical care to individuals and families that are uninsured or underinsured. There are three clinic locations; Hibbing, Grand Rapids, and Virginia.
In 2018 Project Care clinics served 321 new patients along with existing patients. The staff and volunteers primary goal is to provide patient medical care and advocating services to those that fall through the cracks. Many patients utilize the services that the clinics offer for a temporary time until they obtain affordable health insurance through the state, their employer, or until they purchase insurance during open enrollment through MNSURE. Each clinic has certified MNSURE Navigators to assist people with the process. The clinic also provides resources to patients to obtain medications at a reasonable cost to the individual.
Medica Foundation’s funding will assist in financial sustainability for the upcoming year.
