BUHL — The Minnesota Highway Patrol on Thursday said two area men were injured in a crash in Great Scott Township.
In a press release, the MHP reported that it was 8:15 a.m. when a 2001 Toyota Corolla traveling northbound on Highway 169 — south of Great Scott Holmes Road — rear-ended a 2000 Sterling STE Minnesota Department of Transportation truck also heading northbound.
The driver of the Toyota, identified in the report as Daniel W. Wolf, 44, of Hibbing, was airlifted to St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth, where he was treated for serious, but not life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the MnDOT truck, Peter E. Lange, 56, of Angora, was brought to Essentia Hospital in Virginia, where he was treated for minor injuries. A passenger in the truck, Brent C. Greenberg, 47, of Orr, was not injured.
Road conditions were dry at the time of the crash, and all three individuals were wearing seatbelts. An airbag deployed in the Toyota. Alcohol was not a factor.
Multiple agencies assisted the MHP at the scene, including the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Department; Buhl Emergency Services; and fire departments from Hibbing, Kinney and Virginia.
