Library Ty’s Word of the Week

A mondegreen is a mishearing of a phrase, poem or lyric. The listener may misinterpret the phrase and substitute similar sounds. The word “mondegreen” itself comes from the misinterpretation of the lyrics “laid him on the green,” which was heard as “Lady Mondegreen.”
