James Arabanos, 48, of Minnetonka, Minn., passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013.
He was born and raised in Hibbing. Jim was a graduate of Hibbing High School class of 1984, where he excelled in wrestling and went on to wrestle at North Dakota State University (NDSU).
While attending NDSU, he began his entrepreneurial career by selling used carpet. From there he founded and launched AJ Indoor Advertising in 1987. He grew that company to a national footprint of 50 markets.
In 2000, he founded and launched Intran Media, the largest mobile advertising company in the nation. In 2010, he launched Trans Media Group (TMG), of which he served as president and chief executive officer (CEO) prior to his passing.
Jim will forever be known as the guy with the biggest heart and was passionate in every aspect of his life. His larger than life personality was prominent in everything he did. His generosity to charities was boundless. He was dedicated to his family and was a loyal friend. His smile and presence will be forever missed.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Andrea Strom Arabanos; children: Lexandra and Charles Arabanos (their mother, Jayne Arabanos) and Callahan Creech; mother, Donna (Bernie) Larson; father, Deno (Iris Cole) Arabanos; sisters, Dena (Mark) Bovitz and Meg (Steve) Opacich; brother, John (Victoria) Arabanos; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral: Services are tentatively planned for Wednesday, Nov. 27, at Wayzata Community Church, 125 E. Wayzata Blvd., Wayzata, MN.
