HIBBING — Funeral services for Ronald Dennis Kottom, 55, of Hibbing, will be Saturday, Aug. 18, 2001 at 11 a.m. in the First Assembly of God Church in Hibbing. The Rev. Randy Williamson will officiate. Visitation will be Friday, Aug. 17, 2001 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing. Pallbearers will be: Richard Stalboerger, Jack Massich, Richard Jensen, Jerry Danielson, John Pierce, John Shain, Steve Massich and Mike Berklich. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery of Hibbing.
He died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2001 in the University Medical Center- Mesabi, Hibbing. He was born in Chisholm on Feb. 22, 1946 to Lawrence and Claryse (Byrum) Kottom. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam era, having served in Germany. He married Marguerite Shafer on Sept. 27, 1969 and worked as a general maintenance mechanic at National Steel. He enjoyed spending time with his family and extended family.
He is survived by his wife, Marguerite of Hibbing; a son, Chris of Prague, Czech Republic; a daughter, Kathy of Hibbing; a brother, Rick (Jeanne) of Chisholm; a sister, Karolyn (Richard) Linderman of Abilene, Texas; “sisters,” Patty Shafer and Kathy (Roman) Ertelt, both of Hibbing; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; by a brother, Richard Kottom; and by his father- and mother-in-law, Milt and Patricia Shafer.
