CHISHOLM — A drug bust conducted Thursday by the Chisholm Police Department has resulted in the arrest of two Hibbing residents.
Jesse A. Faust and Travis E. Olson, both 30, were taken into custody. They were formally charged Friday on felony charges of fifth degree possession of marijuana in St. Louis County Court in Hibbing.
Bail for each was set at $25,000 and supervised release is being considered.
The arrests stem from an incident in which officers responded to an anonymous call of suspicious activity at 10:10 p.m. Thursday in the 400 block of Southwest Fifth Street, according to a Chisholm Police Department release.
Officers detained a suspect and soon realized there was more to the call.
During a search of a house and vehicles later that evening, officers discovered a large marijuana growing operation, according to the release.
Several large bags full of marijuana leaves were taken as evidence.
Police Chief Vern Manner said he credits the bust to outstanding police work by the Chisholm officers and their dedicated response and work on the case.
The next court appearance for both Olson and Faust is set for May 30.
